Many honeymoons end up in a disaster because they do not follow some of the simple dos and don’ts. Often time’s women pay more attention to the wedding preparation and men pay more attention to the honeymoon preparation. It is very important that both men and women focus on both. More specifically, the honeymoon because you will be spending the first seven to ten days of your marriage together in an exotic location without any other distractions. You need to make sure that the plans made make both parties happy or the trip may end up in a disaster causing friction way too early.

  1. Do Not Be Selfish

Do not be any means be selfish about your honeymoon. Your honeymoon is your first trip as a couple which means that it does not matter who is paying for it because now that you are married your money is jointly owned. You must take each other’s passions, wants and desires into consideration while planning as well. You want to ensure that you each get something special out of this trip. A man may want to do something more adventurous whereas a woman may want a more romantic evening. You can easily add both things into the honeymoon, just make sure that you compromise. You will be much happier at the end of the trip. This is the first step in a true marriage!

  1. Do Not Plan Your Honeymoon Alone; Do Plan Together

It is very important that you plan the honeymoon as a couple. The honeymoon is the start of your life together; therefore, it is important that you do something that you both enjoy and want to do. You need to take the time to plan the details out together so that you both find out exactly what you both want to do. Make sure you are both happy with all of the details so that when you do get there you know what to expect and you are both happy. The last thing you want is to get to your honeymoon and be disappointed. As individuals you will have varying opinions on everything so it would be irresponsible to plan separately.

  1. Do Not Settle; Do Plan the Honeymoon You Deserve

Sometimes people tend to skimp on their honeymoon because they do not know how to plan accordingly. Plan your honeymoon according to your taste and lifestyle. If you do not book something based on that you will be severely disappointed when you get there. For example, do not book a one story house if you can afford and live the life of a three story house. If you need to use a booking agent, do so. They can help find something within your budget that will suit your needs and wants.

  1. Do Not Let the Photographs Fool You; Do Get Some References

I would highly recommend that you do plenty of research before booking your trip. Do not make a selection based on pictures because you do not know when those pictures were taken, if they were photoshopped or anything about the surrounding area. You need to make sure you know everything about the resort, hotel, city, etc. I also suggest using a tourist board or forums to find out more about your chosen honeymoon destination. That is a great way to find out more about your location as well.

Please use these do’s and don’ts as you plan your honeymoon. These will ensure you start the new chapter of your life with your partner right.
